Our goal
Mica aims for this website, the Mica app in the Shopify admin, and the quiz shoppers see on a store to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. WCAG is the W3C standard for making web content usable by people with disabilities.
How we test
This site is checked with axe-core, an automated accessibility testing engine, in light and dark mode at desktop and mobile widths, and by hand with a keyboard only.
Automated tools catch only part of what WCAG covers, so problems people report are fixed as they come in.
The app and the storefront quiz
The Mica app is built with Shopify's Polaris components, the same interface parts the Shopify admin uses.
The quiz on a store uses the colors, fonts and images the merchant chooses, so its contrast and image descriptions depend on those choices.
Known issues
The Industries menu in the header opens on mouse hover. Keyboard and screen reader users reach the same links on the Industries page, which the menu's own link opens.
This site has not yet been tested with a screen reader.
The Mica app and the storefront quiz have not yet had the same automated and keyboard review as this site.
